Overview
New Jersey City University’s Hepburn Hall holds a special place in the community, so when it came time to update 600+ windows on this classic, only the best would do.
The University chose Marvin's cost-effective Tilt Pac sash replacement and panning system—an ideal choice for retaining historic integrity while enhancing energy efficiency. Signature Products and Services
- Signature Services millworkers took an existing sash and manufactured a duplicate, complete with pointed Gothic top, narrow width and small height, and created a special template for the 600+ units.
- Almost every window unit was a different size and shape, so each was hand-measured and tagged to make sure the right unit went to the right space.
- To give Casemaster sash the classic look of leaded glass, crimped zinc and glass were subjected to a special patina-producing process. A special size check rail was designed to match pre-cast stone pieces, echoing the aesthetics of the original windows.
- The Marvin panning system covered weathered exterior sills and trim with attractive, low-maintenance, highly durable extruded aluminum cladding.
- Signature Services professionals coordinated an ambitious schedule requiring delivery and installation throughout the winter, including special extrusions and hardware, leaded glass and other items requiring long lead times.
- Products and Options included:
- Double hung windows with custom check rail
- Custom, gothic shaped windows with specially milled sash parts
- Extruded aluminum panning system
- Custom casing
